Logistics Industry
★ Customer Requirements
Currently, China's cold chain layout is fragmented, with a total national cold storage capacity of approximately 8.8 million tons, mainly concentrated in production areas and suburbs of large and medium-sized cities, which cannot effectively support a nationwide distribution system for perishable foods. The "Development Plan for Agricultural Product Frozen Logistics" explicitly proposes adding 10 million tons of cold storage capacity by 2020, with full policy, capital, and resource support. Third-party cold chain logistics is entering a golden development period.
★ Site Selection and Architectural Design of Logistics Cold Storage
Site selection requirements: convenient transportation, reliable water and power supply, clean environment, and distance from pollution sources. Meat and fish processing cold storage facilities should be located on the windward side with the lowest summer wind frequency in urban residential areas, close to production areas or commodity distribution centers.
Building composition: includes cold processing and cold storage buildings (chilling rooms, freezing rooms, cold storage rooms, ice storage rooms), auxiliary buildings, transportation facilities, administrative offices, machine rooms, ice-making rooms, etc.
Floor plan layout: The process flow should be rational, with short and non-crossing routes, clear separation of high- and low-temperature zones, and minimized envelope area. Multi-story cold storage facilities often adopt a dumbbell layout (high- and low-temperature storage separated, connected by a central corridor) or a single-unit layout (equipped with air curtains to prevent cold air leakage). Walls, ceilings, and floors are insulated with thermal insulation layers (rice husks, cork, expanded perlite, etc.), and a vapor barrier (such as asphalt felt) is added on the high-temperature side to prevent water vapor penetration.
★ Cold Chain Logistics Cold Storage
A complete food cold chain comprises four major segments: freezing processing, low-temperature storage, refrigerated transportation, and fresh-keeping sales. Logistics cold storage facilities perform the functions of freezing processing and low-temperature storage, equipped with freezing processing rooms and low-temperature storage warehouses. Large cold chain centers handle diverse goods and require zoning by temperature range:
High-temperature zone: 0°C to 8°C, for fresh-keeping of fruits and vegetables
Medium-temperature zone: -18°C to -23°C, for aquatic products and poultry meat
Low-temperature zone: below -35°C, for quick-frozen foods
