The standard name for the insulation material sprayed inside cold rooms is "sprayed rigid polyurethane foam," commonly known in the industry as "polyurethane black and white material (AB material)." It is currently the only mainstream material used for on-site spraying in cold rooms. Let's take a closer look together! Details are as follows:

I. Core Composition (Two-Component, Mixed and Foamed On-Site)
The spray material is a two-component liquid that is mixed on-site by high-pressure equipment at a 1:1 ratio, instantly reacting, foaming, and curing:
1. White Material (Component A / Combined Polyether)
Main ingredients: polyether/polyester polyol + environmentally friendly fluorine-free blowing agent (cyclopentane/HFC-245fa) + flame retardant + catalyst + foam stabilizer and other additives. It is a light yellow viscous liquid.
2. Black Material (Component B / Isocyanate)
Main ingredients: polymeric MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate). It is a dark brown viscous liquid.
After mixing, it foams and cures within 3-5 seconds, forming a rigid honeycomb foam with a closed-cell rate of ≥95%, providing thermal insulation, moisture resistance, and adhesion to walls.
II. Special Requirements for Cold Room-Specific Spray Material
Unlike ordinary exterior wall polyurethane spray materials, the cold room-specific type has strict performance requirements:
1. Higher density: Cold room-specific material has a density of 35-40 kg/m³ (exterior wall type is only 25-30 kg/m³), preventing shrinkage and cracking at low temperatures.
2. Low-temperature resistance: Can withstand ultra-low temperatures down to -60°C, suitable for all cold room temperature zones.
3. Moisture resistance: Closed-cell rate ≥95%, preventing water absorption and failure in high-humidity cold room environments.
4. Flame retardancy: At least B2 grade (flame retardant); pharmaceutical/large commercial cold rooms require B1 grade.
III. Applicable Standards
There are specific national regulations governing cold room spray materials and construction:
- Product standard: GB/T 20219-2015 "Sprayed rigid polyurethane foam for thermal insulation"
- Engineering standards: T/CECS 498-2024 "Technical specification for sprayed rigid polyurethane foam insulation engineering in cold rooms", GB 51440-2021 "Standard for construction and acceptance of cold room engineering"

IV. Important Pitfall Reminders
Do not substitute ordinary exterior wall spray material for cold room-specific material: exterior wall material has lower density and poor low-temperature resistance, leading to foam shrinkage, cracking, and cold air leakage within 1-2 years of use in cold rooms, resulting in extremely high maintenance costs later.
A protective layer must be applied after spraying: the foam itself is susceptible to damage from sharp objects and UV radiation. After completion, it is necessary to attach color steel plates or apply mortar for protection to extend its service life.
