The site selection and civil foundation of an explosion-proof cold room are subject to stringent specifications. The site must be located away from densely populated areas and potential sources of fire or vibration. The cold room body is typically required to be built below the external ground level to ensure that in the event of an incident, leaked materials will not spread outward. In terms of building structure, the cold room must be equipped with explosion-proof walls, explosion-proof doors, and pressure-relief and explosion-venting devices precisely calculated based on the internal surface area, ensuring effective release of shock waves in case of an accident. Additionally, the insulation panels of the cold room body must use flame-retardant polyurethane materials of B1 grade or above, providing both excellent thermal insulation and fire resistance.


The explosion-proof treatment of the refrigeration system and electrical equipment is the core technical barrier of an explosion-proof cold room. All refrigeration compressors, air coolers, and condensers inside the cold room must undergo strict explosion-proof treatment. The equipment surfaces must bear the "EX" explosion-proof mark, and the explosion-proof rating is typically required to reach IIC T4 or above. The electrical system must use explosion-proof components, including explosion-proof lighting fixtures, switches, junction boxes, and electrical control cabinets. All wiring must be protected by conduits to prevent arcing. To prevent sparks caused by static electricity accumulation, the interior of the cold room is coated with conductive paint and equipped with comprehensive grounding protection. Furthermore, electric heating defrosting is strictly prohibited in the refrigeration system; instead, water flushing or hot gas defrosting methods must be used.


In terms of protection and intelligent monitoring, the explosion-proof cold room establishes multiple defense lines. The interior must be fully covered with low-temperature-rated explosion-proof temperature and smoke detectors, linked to the fire control room. Once gas leakage or abnormal temperature is detected, the system can automatically cut off the power supply, close the cold room door, and activate alarms and fire suppression devices within seconds. Meanwhile, the machine room must be equipped with an independent explosion-proof emergency ventilation system to ensure timely discharge of hazardous gases.

It requires that design, construction, and equipment selection strictly comply with national explosion-proof electrical standards and refrigeration industry specifications.
