 Plate Freezing Tunnel (Belt Freezing Tunnel, Dual Refrigeration by Contact + Convection)


 I. Refrigeration Principle

Refrigerant heat exchange runs beneath the stainless steel solid plate conveyor belt (belt plate), combined with high-pressure cold air blowing from above and below inside the tunnel, achieving dual rapid freezing through contact heat conduction and air blast convection:

1. Low-temperature refrigerant circulates in the interlayer of the belt plate, rapidly cooling the steel plate; the bottom surface of the food product closely contacts the cold steel plate for efficient heat conduction;

2. Tunnel temperature is -35°C to -40°C, with high-speed air blowing from upper and lower air outlets to cool the top surface of the food product;

3. Inlet temperature +10 to 15°C, outlet core temperature ≤ -18°C, freezing time 12 to 35 minutes, optimal for flat/block products with thickness ≤ 50mm.

> Distinction: Mesh belt flat tunnel = open mesh belt, pure air blast cooling; Belt plate flat tunnel = solid steel plate, contact heat exchange (mainstream)

 III. Suitable Products (Focus on flat, sliced, and block items; not for bulk granular IQF)

Seafood: Fish fillets, fish steaks, basa chunks, scallop adductors, peeled large shrimp, hairtail segments

Meat: Steaks, meat patties, chicken breast fillets, bacon, marinated meat chunks

Pastry/Prepared Foods: Boxed dumplings, buns, quick-frozen dough sheets, boxed prepared meals

Not suitable: Green peas, corn kernels, small berries (use fluidized bed); bulk dumplings, meatballs (use spiral freezer)


 IV. Key Advantages and Disadvantages

 Advantages

1. Extremely low dehydration loss of 0.5%-1.2%, far lower than ordinary air blast tunnels at 3%-5%, resulting in less weight loss and higher yield;

2. Fast heat conduction of the plate; saves over 20% energy compared to ordinary mesh belt tunnels at the same capacity; frozen products have a flat, non-deformed surface;

3. Full 304 stainless steel belt plate, easy to wash, meets food SC hygiene standards; variable frequency speed control adapts to multi-product changeovers;

4. Can integrate with upstream tray loading machines and downstream automatic packaging lines for continuous full-line production.


 Disadvantages

1. Linear tunnel occupies more floor space; about 50% more than spiral freezers at the same capacity;

2. Freezing efficiency drops significantly for overly thick (>60mm) or irregularly shaped materials.


 V. Refrigeration Configuration (Compatible with Your Existing Water-Cooled Screw Compressor Unit)

1. Air-Cooled Integrated Type: Comes with built-in condenser fan, no cooling tower needed; preferred for small capacity below 500 kg/h as a single unit; capacity drops about 10% in high summer temperatures;

2. Water-Cooled Type (Standard for Large Plants): Condenser connects to the plant's water-cooled screw compressor and cooling tower, sharing the same cooling water system with flake ice machines, block ice machines, and low-temperature freezing cabinets; stable capacity in peak summer and better overall energy efficiency (mandatory for daily output over 3 tons).
